I have both products and the gel isn't the same as the balm. The gel creates kind of a film on the skin, so that you can massage it. It doesn't really sink in. It's pro-recovery spot treatment for fresh scars, post-peeling or post-laser treatments and so on. It's not really meant to be used to repair your moisture barrier, like the balm is. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a Broad-Spectrum. To further mitigate the risks of sun exposure, wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade.
