But, I have to be honest, I would have loved to have some extra dynamic range from time to time, and my Canon 5D Mark II, and then Mark III, have definitely fallen short of the competitors in this category.
The R6 mark II is slightly larger and heavier than the A7 mark IV. Both cameras offer weather sealing and are built with a magnesium alloy chassis. R6 II: 138.4 × 98.4 × 88.4mm, 670g. A7 IV: 131.3 x 96.4 x 79.8mm, 658g. The Canon design is my favourite mainly because of the larger, rounder and taller grip.
The Canon 6D Mark II has a noticeably worse dynamic range than the Canon 7D Mark II. This means that you’ll capture less detail overall. That’s a big concern for landscape photographers in particular. Of course, the Canon 6D Mark II still offers a higher megapixel count than the Canon 7D Mark II (26.2 MP vs 20.2 MP).
When it comes to DR, the 6D.2 performs identically to the 5D.2 up to ISO 800 and improves a little over the 5D.2 beyond that.
